Mount Harvey, 1,652 m (5,420 ft), is a mountain in the Britannia Range of the North Shore Mountains just northeast of the Village of Lions Bay, British Columbia, Canada.

 

☛ Name origin

Like nearby Mount Brunswick, which is Mount Harvey's line parent in prominence terms, and like other placenames in the Howe Sound region, the mountain was named in associated with the marine battle of 1794 known as the Glorious First of June. Such names were conferred by Captain Richards of HMS Plumper during his survey of the region in 1859.

John Harvey (1740–1794) was the captain of HMS Brunswick and lost a limb in that battle, dying from complications from it soon afterwards.

Vancouver MJM hiking club 6명이 토요일 정기산행에 참가하여 Mount Harvey(1,652m/Greater Vancouver A, BC, Canada)정상을 향해 오르던중 정상 가까이에서 코니스(Cornice)를 밟아 500m 수직벽 아래로 함께 추락하여 5명 전원이 사망했다

2017년 7월 14일 FRI Mount Harvey(1,652m)

참사가 일어난 날로부터 49일이 두 번지난 98일째 되던날,

나는 산 벗들을 추모하기 위해 나홀로 Mount Harvey(1,652m) 정상에 올랐다

 

아무도 없었다.

산행철이라 산행로가 붐비고 있었어야 될 때인데 말이다.

밴쿠버에서는 일찍이 없었던 대형 산행 사고가 발생했다는 선입견 때문일까 가는길 오는길에는 한 사람도 보이지 않았다.

이 유명산을 나 혼자 올라가고 있다니?

인간의 심리는 똑 같은가 보다.

혼자서 많이 울었다.

 

세월은 어쩔 수 없이 그로부터 또 5년이라는 세월이 속절없이 흘러갔다

그들은 이미 먼 길을 떠났고 나는 지금 살아있다

산자와 죽은자의 차이?

지금 생각해보면 ‘청명에 죽으나 한식에 죽으나’하는 옛말이 허튼말이 아닌것 같다.

어차피 언젠가는 가는 길이지만 일단은 살아있어야 되는것일까?

그러기 위해서는 건강해야 되는데 말이다.

또, 오늘이 흘러간다.
