[ 오타와(캐나다)= 신화/뉴시스] 차미례 기자 = 캐나다 밴쿠버 섬 북쪽 해안에서 100km 떨어진 지역에서 23일(현지시간) 4개의 지진이 잇따라 일어났다고 캐나다 지진국( Earthquakes Canada )이 발표했다.

리히터 지진계로 5.1을 기록한 첫 번째 지진은 현지시간 8시 44분에 포트 하디 서쪽 162km에서 발생했다.

이어서 11시 13분에는 포트 앨리스 서쪽 185km, 11시 49분에는 포트 하디 서쪽 178km, 오후 12시 56분에는 포트 앨리스 서쪽 186km지점에서 규 모 5.6, 5.8, 6.0의 점점 강한 지진이 일어났다.

이 지진으로 인한 쓰나미 경보는 없으며 지진으로 인한 재산 피해나 사상자 수는 아직 보고된 것이 없다고 캐나다 지진국은 밝혔다.

Vancouver Island is in the northeastern Pacific Ocean in North America's Pacific Northwest. It is part of the Canadian province of British Columbia. The island is 460 kilometres (290 mi) in length, 100 kilometres (62 mi) in width at its widest point,[5] and 32,134 km2 (12,407 sq mi) in area.
