According to an EMS spokesperson, emergency crews responded to the Mosquito Creek Hostel parking lot area around 10:50 a.m.
“We had reports that a person in the Grand Daddy Couloir area may have sustained a high fall,” the spokesperson said. “The ground unit ultimately liaised with STARS in the Lake Louise area for flight into the Foothills Medical Centre.”
According to the spokesperson, the woman, in her late 20s, took a prolonged fall down the mountain where she had been with other skiers.
“The parks staff were able to rescue her out of the backcountry area and brought her down to our Banff unit that was in the Mosquito Creek lot.”
The woman arrived at the hospital in “at least serious condition,” the spokesperson said. While she suffered serious injuries, the injuries sustained should not be life-threatening.
