They consist of about 20 islands, seven of which are covered by the high tide of the Pacific Ocean. Several Mamanuca islands are uninhabited, usually because there is no natural source of water. The most famous uninhabited island in the group is the small Monuriki, the main location for the 2000 film "Cast Away".
