Longest migration for a bird
Arctic terns travel the longest distance of any animal during their yearly migration. According to the National Wildlife Federation, Arctic terns travel from their breeding grounds in the Arctic to Antarctica and back again, covering a distance of at least 40,000 kilometres (25,000 miles). “In 2016, one arctic tern was tracked and recorded traveling 59,650 miles (96,000 kilometers) over the course of its yearly migration.”
